National Weather Service says:
Much hotter temperatures later this week and especially this weekend, with near record afternoon highs Friday (6/16) through next Monday (6/19).
An Excessive Heat Watch means that a prolonged period of extremely hot temperatures is expected. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.
Heat stroke is an emergency. CALL 911.
If you are friendly with elderly neighbors, neighbors with pets or young children, consider checking on them in the worst of the heat.
Have a plan for what to do if the power goes out, or if your AC or swamp cooler fails.
